Welcome to the Collegiate Tennis Pages of USTA SOUTHWEST SECTION

Here you will find resources to help you play either at the varsity level at a university or recreational at a school in the USTA Southwest Section. You can also find the USTA's annual college scholarships, the USTA's Tennis on Campus program and a special Section called "Where are they now?" that highlights where former USTA Southwest Juniors are playing.

  • 360,000 of 15 million students who enroll Nationally in NCAA American colleges and universities are student-athletes, not all are on scholarship.
  • There are approximately 15,000 NCAA college tennis players, not all are on scholarship
  • Men’s Tennis teams in NCAA: DI 269; DII 166 and DIII 309
  • Women’s Tennis teams in NCAA: DI 312; DII 210; DIII 358
  • NAIA colleges offer 113 men’s teams and 133 women’s teams
  • NJCAA colleges offer 84 men’s teams and 88 women’s teams

College Tennis Opportunities
There are three associations governing collegiate tennis: The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). With over 2,000 colleges and universities to choose from. See below for scholarship availability within each association.

Division III: Men – 0 Women – 0
Note: Division I Ivy League Conference and Division III do not offer athletic scholarships

WHEN DO I START?
It is never too early to start planning for college. The following is a guide from the USTA to help student-athletes interested in playing college varsity tennis understand the process. The more you know about the process the more informed you will be when it comes to making one of the most important decisions of your life. There are academic scholarships, athletic scholarships and financial aid available. There are many opportunities to play collegiate tennis, the more research you do the more options you will have. BE PREPARED and DO YOUR RESEARCH.

COLLEGE RECRUITING LISTS:
Many College Coaches contact the USTA Southwest Section office for address lists for our Southwest players to help them with their recruiting process. We print these list directly off of the membership information at National. Please make sure that your contact information is current (address, phone number, e-mail…) in order for the coaches and our office to have correct resources.
