Counterpuncher

Tennis in the Southwest. That’s the area covered by Counterpuncher. The aim of our Counterpuncher online segment is to bring you stories behind the news. Feature articles and opinion pieces on the people, places, events and controversies of tennis. Information and entertainment you cannot find anywhere else.

Toby Smith has been writing on tennis for more than 40 years. A resident of Albuquerque, he reported on the sport for two decades while with the Albuquerque Journal. He has written about tennis for numerous publications, including Tennis, World Tennis, and Sports Illustrated.

Toby, a past member of our USTA Southwest Marketing Committee, has contributed to our southwest.usta.com and Northern New Mexico (www.nnmta.usta.com) websites for a couple of years now, bringing his unique and expansive tennis knowledge to our followers.

You can reach the Counterpuncher and even offer up story suggestions by contacting him at TobySmith68@gmail.com or 505-681-0667.
